Overview
The icons (balloons) on the Business Map can now be styled once and reused. Set a default look for balloons and groups in My Default Settings, then save, apply, and reset styles from the Business Map page itself. The result: less manual styling on every new map and a consistent look across the maps you publish.
What changed:
- New Business Map section in My Default Settings for setting default balloon and group styles.
- Style dropdown on the Business Map page: Load my defaults, Save as default, Apply to all balloons.
- Reset to defaults dropdown on the Business Map page: This balloon, All balloons.
- Same Style and Reset to defaults controls available when a group is selected.
Prerequisites
Before customizing Business Map icons, you need:
- An active RealNex MarketEdge Property with a Business Map page in the presentation.
- At least one balloon added to the Business Map.
Set default styles for balloons and groups
Step 1: Open Business Map defaults in My Default Settings
From the toolbar, click Settings > My Default Settings. In the My Default Settings dialog, click Business Map to view the new defaults section.
Adjust the default style options for balloons and groups to match the look you want applied automatically. These defaults take effect when a new business is added to the map.
Apply styles from the Business Map
Step 2: Use the Style dropdown on a selected balloon
On the Business Map page, select a balloon. Open the Style dropdown above the map.
- Load my defaults: opens My Default Settings so you can review or adjust the saved defaults.
- Save as default: saves the style of the selected balloon as the default for all future balloons.
- Apply to all balloons: applies the style of the selected balloon to every balloon in the current map.
Reset styles to default
Step 3: Use the Reset to defaults dropdown
On the Business Map page, open the Reset to defaults dropdown.
- This balloon: resets the style of the currently selected balloon to your saved defaults.
- All balloons: resets the style of every balloon in the current map to your saved defaults.
Use the same controls on groups
Step 4: Style and reset groups from the group's style section
Select a group on the Business Map. The same Style and Reset to defaults dropdowns appear in the style section for the selected group.
- The options mirror the balloon controls.
- Actions taken from the group's style section apply only to groups, not to balloons.
Tips and Best Practices
- Set defaults once, save time on every new map. Configure your most-used balloon and group styles in My Default Settings so new businesses and groups inherit the look automatically.
- Save a style off the map. Style a balloon the way you want it, then choose Save as default to use that style going forward. Faster than reopening My Default Settings every time you adjust a look.
- Use Apply to all balloons after a brand refresh. Restyle one balloon, then apply it across the map in one click.
- Reset before re-styling for a new client. When carrying a map forward to a different deal, reset all balloons first so you start from a known baseline.
