Account Security Updates - What are they?

There are three new security protocols that RealNex is rolling out to better protect you and safeguard your data:

    1. New Password Requirements
      • New and Strong Password Requirements:
        • At Least 8 characters
          • At least 3 of the following:
            • Lower case letters (a-z)
            • Upper case letters (A-Z)
            • Numbers (0-9)
            • Special characters (e.g. !@#$%^&*)
    2. Failed Login Attempt Limits
      • All users now have a limit of three (3) failed password attempts before being temporarily locked out of their account
    3. Two-Factor Authentication
      • 2FA adds a layer of security by requiring a code (sent by text/email) after entering your password
      • All users are required to setup Two-Factor Authentication with their phone number

Additionally, you will also have the option to replace the need for your password by using a passkey.

    • passkey protects your account with the use of a unique key that is stored on your device, which only you can access. It's like having a digital key that only you can use.

How do I reset my RealNex Password?

Resetting your password is divided into three key phases, with the third phase being an optional enhancement for those who would like it:

    2. Activate Two-Factor Authentication
    3. Create a Passkey (Optional)

Continue reading for the detailed step-by-step process.

    Reset your Password

Click the “Login” button to start the Login sequence.

    1. Enter your RealNex Account Email Address, then click “Continue"
    2. Enter your current Password, then click “Continue”
    3. If you receive the Password Expired warning, click “Ok” and go back to the Login sequence
    4. Click “Can’t log in to your account?”
    5. Enter your RealNex Account Email Address, then click “Continue”
    6. Check your Email inbox for the 6-digit code and enter it, then click “Continue”
    7. Enter and re-enter a strong new Password by following the password requirements
    8. Click “Reset Password”
    9. After you get the Confirmation Message, click the ‘back’ button on your browser, or simply go to https://realnex.com

Before you log in to your account, you will be prompted to Secure your Account – continue to the next section to proceed.

    Setup Two-Factor Authentication

Once you are back to the Login sequence:

    10. Log in to your RealNex Account with your New Password

    11. From the “Keep Your Account Safe” dialog, click “Phone”

    12. Enter your phone number, select “Text message” then click “Continue”

The phone number entered should be a phone you always have access to

      •

    13. Enter the 6-digit code that was sent to your phone number, then click “Continue”

    14. For those who do not want to use passkeys, click “Continue without passkeys” and you’ll be logged in to your account!

Not interested? Don’t worry, your account is just as secured now that you have setup 2FA.

That's all you need to do - you've updated your password and activated 2FA!

If you would like to bypass needing a password, proceed on to the next section to create a passkey.

    Create a Passkey (Optional)

After you have completed the steps above, you have the option to create a Passkey:

    1. From the “Create a passkey…” dialog, click the “Create a passkey” button
    2. Save your passkey – whether you use a password manager, Windows Hello, etc., you will be prompted to save your passkey
    3. Once saved, that’s it! You will be logged in to your account and can use the “Continue with a passkey” option in the Login sequence

    Frequently Asked Questions
    1. Why did you do this?
      • Bad actors are constantly trying to steal information, and they know there is valuable information in every database. We are committed to keeping your data safe from bad actors, and this is a necessary step in keeping them away from your data
    2. I tried logging in to RealNex/resetting my password, but I get stuck in a loop. Why?
      • Confirm you are attempting to log in from realnex.com - logging in from crm.realnex.com will not work as part of the Account Security Update.
    3. Do I have to provide my a code each time I log in?
      • No. After activating 2FA, the system remembers your computer and other variables to verify it's you accessing your account. Just use your password as you normally would. To bypass needing a password, consider using a passkey
    4. What is a passkey?
      • A passkey lets you log in without a password. Your device securely stores the information needed to verify your identity, and you access it using methods like your fingerprint, face recognition, or a PIN.
      • Using a passkey is like using a debit card with a PIN. Your device securely holds what's needed to log in, but only you can unlock it using something like your fingerprint, face recognition, or PIN.
    5. I Login with Google/Microsoft/Apple, do I have to do anything?
      • You have nothing to do! Single Sign On with Google, Microsoft, and Apple is already just as secure since only you can access your Google/Microsoft/Apple account. These three providers typically have multi-factor authentication activated for accounts created and hosted with their services, so rest assured your RealNex Account is secured.
    6. What do I do if I get locked out of my account? (Too many failed login attempts)
    7. I access my RealNex account through an external sign in (RE/MAX users), do I have to do anything?
      • You have nothing to do! The security update only applies to users who access their RealNex Accounts with their RealNex Email and Password.
      • For RE/MAX users, your MAX/Center logins are secured and therefore, so is your RealNex Account.
    8. Can I get this turned off, even temporarily?
      • No, this is required for all users and gives you an additional layer of security.
    9. How is my admin/VA/other team member going to be able to access my account?
      • If your admin/VA/other team member has a license, they will reset their password and activate 2FA, just like you did.
    10. The initial code wasn't sent to my email, what do I do?
      • After confirming that the inbox you are checking matches your RealNex Account Email, search for an email from "support@realnex.com", containing the phrase "Verification Code" in the subject line.
      • Please be sure to check other folders in your inbox, such as Focused/Other, Junk/Spam, etc.
      • If you are still unable to locate the code, contact us at support@realnex.com
    11. Do I need to use a passkey?
      • No, passkeys are completely optional. They're a great option if you don't want to keep tracking passwords, but the Two-Factor Authentication you setup with your phone number is all that's required.
